In the choppy waters of the North Atlantic, 400 miles off St. John's, Canada, a large industrial ship can be seen moving slowly from side to side. On this ship, Stockton Rush made a unique prediction of the future.
Rush hopes his company, Ocean gate, can do the kind of undersea research that Elon Musk, Richard Branson and Jeff Bezos are trying to do in space travel: giving those who can afford it the chance to explore new worlds, of course. If they do now no longer have unique training.
Rush's location on the North Atlantic seems unprecedented at first glance. However, this is where one of the great tragedies of history took place. 3,800 meters below the same water lies the wreck of the Titanic, which sank after hitting an iceberg on its maiden voyage in April 1912.
Rush is trying to make undersea travel possible for common people. He says going underwater to see the world's most famous shipwreck is a great experience. According to him, "I examine a chunk of writing in which he said that three terms withinside the English language are regarded anywhere withinside the world: God, Titanic, and Coca-Cola.
But to make the Titanic dream a reality, Rush has created a new type of submarine that uses lighter materials. Five people on it can go to the bottom of the ocean and see the Titanic. Many people thought it was impossible.
But Rush did it. They reached the wreck last year on this submarine. This time the submarine pilot, Ocean Gate crew, scientists and paid passengers called 'mission specialists' were on board. They paid two and a half million dollars per person to see the Titanic up close.
Meanwhile, they also take with them 'citizen scientists' who collect images and videos of underwater biodiversity.
Banker Renita Rojas, entrepreneur Osian Fanning and TV professional Jayden Penn were on the trip. Oceanographer Steve Ross and submarine pilot Scott Griffith also joined the expedition.
