The citizens of Paris are in the grip of the heartbreaking murder of a 12-year-old student. The girl's body was found in a container in the yard of her apartment building on Friday.
The girl, Lola, had spent her day at school as usual, but her father became concerned when she did not return home in the afternoon.
Lola's body was found inside the container and was covered with something. Her hands and feet were bound and there were reportedly wounds on her neck, while an autopsy revealed that Lola died of asphyxiation. On Saturday morning, the police arrested the primary suspect withinside the murder. The suspect is a 24-year-old woman of Algerian origin, whose name has been reported in the media as Dahabiya B.
The suspect was identified on video from a security camera at the apartment building, where he was seen entering the main entrance with Lola on Friday afternoon. The woman was later seen walking out of the building with the container and then acting strangely on the street.
An eyewitness said he asked for help to get money through 'organ trafficking'.
However, the police say that they did not get any major clue from this information. The police believe that Dahabiya B was not in a good mental state and that his act was 'unintentional'.
In addition to Dahabiya B, a 43-year-old man who is believed to have been carrying Dahabiya B and the container in his car has also been detained.
Police believe that after driving around the Paris suburbs, Dehbia B returned to the apartment building where her sister also lives.
It is said that there was a quarrel between the two sisters after which Dahabiya left the house. He spent the night in a flat in the suburbs of Bois-Columbus, where he was taken into custody the next day.
We can't trust anyone
Police have launched an investigation into the murder and Dahabiya B is expected to be detained pending a judicial inquiry.
Children and parents at Lola's school were worried on Monday morning. The Minister of Education and the Mayor of Paris visited the school.
Gesmi, a father of two, told the newspaper Le Parisien that "my daughter cried all day on Saturday, she didn't sleep even for a moment." Now we can't trust anyone in our neighborhood. I am very afraid of my children.'
A local woman told the newspaper that this incident has shaken me. This morning I went to my son's school, which is only a few meters away, to be satisfied.
She said that from now on I will go to drop her off and pick her back up. If he finishes at half past four, I will leave work at four. There may be no compromise on this.
Brigitte McEwan, the wife of the French president, described it as an "extremely disgusting and unbearable tragedy".
